This week we were elated by the news that our client has approved our narrative (See newsletter 3). While they are many chinks in the story that still require design changes, we have sufficient narrative direction approved for our team to enter our project’s pre-production phase. In pre-production, our goal is to fully comprehend the benefits and limitations of the ImpactJS engine, and master the syntax and programming paradigms used in Javascript programming language. With this understanding, we aim to develop a basic prototype of our game, which encompasses the key components of our game; this includes a simple menu, all features and narrative components required in Act 1 of our story.
This week we are also excited to reveal the first iterations of our main characters, a pair of twin siblings. At present we are still split between naming our characters or allowing players to decide their own character names! If we are able to create a string filter to ensure players stay away from selecting offensive character names, we will certainly include the feature for players to name their characters. Tune in next week to see more of the stars of our game.
