Hi everyone!
I’m Gina in Funival. Team Funival had a research visit to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk last weekend. The purpose of the trip was to get game design and concept ideas from existing carnival games. We had great time playing various arcade games. The trip was very meaningful, which left us lots of photos and great inspirations for our carnival games!
For this week, we are working on creating the first prototype for the two carnival games. The first game would be Fishing Duck game and the second game is Building Ice Cream game.
Fishing Duck
Fishing Duck would be one to four players game. One player can keep the ducks by tapping their mouth. Other players can catch the ducks only when they open the mouth. Since the ducks will open the mouth automatically, the duck keeper would need to keep tapping the ducks. The purpose of the game is to get the most ducks.
Building Ice Cream
Building Ice Cream would be one to four players game. The goal of the game is to stack ice cream balls on the top of the ice cream corn to make the tallest ice cream corn. The ice cream balls will be dropped from the top, but the players have to position the ice cream balls to keep the balance. The one makes the highest ice cream would be the winner.
We expect to have rough prototypes by end of this week. We will keep iterating the prototype ideas to develop more fun carnival games.
Below are the photos from the Santa Cruz research trip. See you next week!
