How time flies! Our half is coming next week and we got a lot of things happened in this week.
At first we have a big change to our bear character, we transferred its role from a guide to a friendly listener. The bear will directly react to how children read with exaggerated facial expression and emotions to engage children in reading. Therefore, based on this new role design and the bears survey from children museum playtest, we came out a brand new bear character!!! Its look is the combination of children’s top two favorite characters. We also made the bear’s mouth bigger to make it easy to do some crazy and funny things to amuse children.
On Wednesday, we went to Winchester Thurston School and talked with first year and kindergarten teachers. They were excited about what we are doing. We also got a lot of useful information about how children learn to read and how they start memorizing the meaning of words.
We added a lot of new feature to our Guji-Guji prototype. Now we have a very cool and awesome looking book opening animation; we have the swipe function to choose book; we got rid of the microphone and page turning buttons and left voice recognition detecting children’s voice all the time.
On Friday, we had another playtest with 3 kids. We found a solution about our tutorial and also a new problem that children still cannot switch between tablet and TV as we expect. We will focus on solve this problem in our next prototype.
