Welcome aboard!
Space Pirates is a student pitch project to create an augmented-reality tabletop game for 2–4 players. Modern board games encourage friends to gather around the table. AR has the potential for magical experiences that could never be achieved using physical tokens alone.
Our project will explore the intersection of AR and physical board games to create a seamless experience for our players. We will achieve this by testing experimental new AR interactions and integrating the results into our hybrid augmented reality board game.
Your phone or tablet will be your private window into the virtual solar system — a 3D game board that floats above the table. Each player will use their own device to choose a faction, customize their starships, explore space, battle and steal from their friends.
With hordes of loot on the line, what kind of pirate will you be?
