We are a student project at Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center. During our first semester, we focused primarily on the player side of the D&D experience, including all the actions that the players actually perform on the Surface Table. During our current semester, we will be enhancing the existing system as well as implementing more tools to allow Game Masters to create and customize adventures on the Table.
Some of the major features of the system include:
1. Automatically tracking combat states and statistics.
2. Tracking character information.
3. Providing audio and visual feedback for player actions.
4. Use of physical objects which the Table can detect, such as miniatures and themed “control objects”.
