Fabrication Continues
Since our last play test has given us a burst of confidence the Take Shape machine has continued to move in the direction of constant fabrication; in physical and digital aspects. We’ve perfected our twist modifier with a new Optical Rotary Encoder from Phidgets.com that allows for a precise One-to-One connection between twisting the handle physically and modifying the digital model. The extrude modifier has been drafted in AutoCAD to later be sent to the drama department on main campus where we will take advantage of their CNC Router to perfect the build even more. Fabrication on stretch, bend and copy & paste have all begun recently with much trial and error, iteration, retrial, followed by more iteration. Approaching our Halves Presentation deadline we are on schedule to complete four out of our five modifiers as we planned from the beginning to give the faculty a better idea of the direction in which we are headed. So far the museum staff have been mighty helpful in facilitating play tests, providing feedback and acknowledging our reasoning for changes or continuations on our design.
