LumberJam

The LumberJam was a workshop held on April 28th, 2018 to introduce students to the Lumberyard game engine. The purpose of the workshop was 2 fold, to introduce others to Lumberyard and to playtest the documentation, which can help improve simple things, like grammar, as well as where developers stumble with the documentation.

It is recommended to use the Unity to Lumberyard Documentation as a starter documentation, especially coming from the Unity engine. The technical documentation will be used along with the Amazon resources, particularly the Getting Started Guide video series by Amazon, so as to not repeat already developed resources.

Once comfortable with the Lumberyard Editor, after about an hour or so of playing with the tools, attempt the LumberJam objectives write-up. The objectives aren’t laid out as a how-to guide, because the documentation is meant to help beyond a simple guide. Within the write-up, there are links to relevant documentation sections as well as file paths for necessary files. There is also UI resources provided for the step regarding UI. There is a completed level for the first steps of the LumberJam to check your work against. The survey will help improve the documentation, and know which sections need more improvement.
