While caves are used in a variety of experiences in the Location Based Entertainment Industry, so having some cave development experience is worthwhile, the really exciting part of the cave is that it offers a unique set of design challenges that can be explored to gain experience in Interactive Design. It is a space that one walks into, explores, and interacts with. Caves are often used as a portal into another world visually but there are so many more uses for entertainment and gameplay. The default input device between the cave and a user is typically a wireless joystick but with the use of the Kinect the potential of gesture control for games is unlimited. All of this makes using the cave environment an excellent playground to explore Interactive Design and Gameplay.
