Week 3
This past week was an important period of time for the City of Stars team. During our weekly client meeting, our clients Prentiss and Nancy helped us define both a vision and a direction for our project. Additionally, we were able to clarify some of their expectations concerning the flow of the Pittsburgh Walk of Fame experience as a whole. We came to the conclusion that, despite the specifics of the app we eventually decide to create, said app would need to be fairly modular so that it is easy to create celebrity profiles associated with each star on the future walk.
Since then, we have decided to make a series of prototypes in order to identify suitable design options. We split up work among the design team so that we could each come up with ideas for interfaces and then put them together to figure out the positives and negatives of each approach.
While we were doing that, we were also building tech prototypes on different AR platforms with Unity. As far as platforms go, we eventually had to choose between Vuforia and EasyAR, and we settled with the former (as Vuforia was able to better retain AR objects on a phone’s screen when that phone was pointing at a trigger image/pattern at strange angles).
As per ETC project requirement, we as a project team must create a logo for the project, as well as a project poster and a half sheet that summarizes what the project is about. These branding materials are due next week and we have been busy creating drafts of both our logo, poster, and half sheet. At this point, we’ve created a few samples that we feel do a solid job of expressing what our project is all about. Here’s a first look.
In the near future, we’ll be playtesting (hopefully), getting ready for quarters, and crafting a team photo. Make sure to stay tuned for that, and see you next week!
