It has been two calendar weeks since week seven’s newsletter. The team decided to take the GDC week off, and work through out spring break. We are in week 8 on Crescendo Encore’s project schedule, it is also spring break week on CMU’s academic calendar.

Newsletter Week 7: The first external playtest
A large portion of Crescendo Encore’s time this week has been spent on preparing for the first external playtest which is going to happen real soon. We have been implementing visual feedback for hitting without any note coming, for missing a note, and for a good and/or a perfect hit. Other than regular notes, we also have two other types of notes–joint note and tremolo–designed and implemented for our playtest.

Where we are in week 6
Newsletter Week 6: Preparing for the playtest
Crescendo Encore is aiming to conduct the first round of external playtest on Friday of Week 7. The goal is to have two hardware, Timpani and Clarinet, and new music arrangement of Carmen working on XNA. Players will be able to navigate through the menu system from the start to the actual gameplay.
Keeping the primary design objective –“making the game fun and easy”– in mind, Crescendo Encore is fully functioning in every department to get ready for the first external playtest!
