We had a good adviors meeting today, they like what we have so far. For my side, I finally got us permissions with Steve Audia for Perforce and Unity Asset Server. Now its time for us to get clear how to use any of this then I think we are ready to go as a team.
Perforce —> Any necessary none game related work to be backed up and version-control.
Unity Server —> Anything that need to be in game is going to store and version-control at here.
Randon —> Anything massive file size, such as movie or image sequences.
Naming convention,
Prefix_(which version control, u means unity and p means perforce)_andrewID_(File content)
Unity related files —> EX: md_u_mtsai1_9mmBullet.ma
Perforce related files —-> md_p_mtsai1_dummyBox.ma
Any files on randon can be named anything you want, but we recommanded if its for project use in programming, better stay with our format.
Here are the noticeable prefix we are using,
models —> md
textures —> tx
sounds —> sfx
And this will go though team emails tonight.
- Finished modeling two world assets – Pin up board and flask
- Detached slider from gun model for animation
For tomorrow, I plan to finish more assets and also start unwrapping the models for texturing
These two days I spend most of my time to go over Unity’s documentations and online videos. Got general ideas for what should we utilize Unity’s asset server into our project. Still need to get more setting info or need Steve Audia to set things up for us.
And we also need perforce to set up, that’s mainly for our pre-render use.
Will go over all the ideas with team tomorrow either before or during the advisors meeting.
Action items performed today:
- Completed scene 1, 2 of game on ballistics.
- Partially done scene 3.
- Progress discussed in team meeting.
