This week we researched on similar Twitch extensions and confirmed our design constraints with our client, Prof. Jessica Hammer. The only constraint was to use Twitch as our platform. The reasons behind using Twitch platform for our game was because of its huge user base of approximately 3 million monthly broadcasters.
On Wednesday we had a “Playtest to Explore PLUS Brainstorming” workshop. We created our composition box during this workshop. This helped us, as a team, to get a clear idea about our end goal. This workshop also taught us to think about our project from different perspectives: as the team, as a client, and as a player.
Later, we had a discussion about our metrics matrix. The result was to focus on the following:
- Effectiveness : our goal is for our final product to gather a large amount of audio data
- Playtesting : our goal is to release a well-tested project on Twitch
- Prototyping (& playtesting) : our goal is to prototype and playtest quickly to polish our project.
In addition to the above metrics, client requirements, quality assurance and gameplay are also important. Importance of storytelling could change based on our design direction.
We had the first draft of our poster ready by Wednesday. Our artist had two different versions, which was shown to our client and advisors during the meeting. We got valuable feedback and suggestions from them on how to improve our team poster.
Our plan for next week is to flesh out design ideas and prepare for the quarter walkarounds(Week 4).
