Week 14
The team had soft opening this week. We got many valuable feedback and we are updating our product based on the feedback. We are reaching the end of the semester, and we are wrapping up our project.
Soft Opening
We showed our playable version to all faculty, and here are the feedback we got:
- Make sure everything is visible to highlight gameplay decisions.
- Making UI choices clearer.
- Focus more on good camera angles and clarity of gameplay experience
- Viruses all look a little similar (with the coronas) that doesn’t seem accurate, is it? It’s hard for users to remember which virus is which. Make them look distinct from one another, beyond color.
- Have the virus voices sound distinct from human voices so users are more aware of which character is speaking. Change the background ambience to a clearer one.
Most of the feedback is talking about clarity. We are changing our UI, sound design, and 3d rendering to make it clearer to players.
Here is a playthrough video with one of the endings:
Polishing UI
From the playtests with faculty on soft opening, we are polishing our UI design to make the whole experience clearer to players: more explanation in tutorial, add stop/resume option in game, educational message at the end, explain what role the player is playing, rephrase UI texts.
