This week we focused on planning and filming our playtest, as we prepare for leaving for two weeks, and halves presentation.
-We imported and stitched the test footage we shot over the weekend.
-We designed a playtest, with several questions in mind. Based on our experiences researching vr film, we want look at inducing emotional experiences from a first person perspective, the role that being able to look around plays in a vr experience, as well as the role gender plays in your perspective.
-We designed, wrote and shot two scenes: one, an office bullying scene, where the guest is bullied by an overbearing boss, and a romantic scene, where the guest takes on the role of either a male or female, in a romantic moment with someone of the opposite gender. This was the first shooting we have done with lav micing, which lends to a higher quality audio experience.
-We designed our questionaire and playtest methods. The playtest is being planned for Monday.
-Finally we set a work plan for halves presentation while we are gone to GDC.
That said, this week wasn’t without some challenges:
-We had trouble obtaining actors, and we had actors reschedule on us. This delayed our filming schedule.
-The biggest scene we filmed, the Office Scene, had one of the cameras not working, creating a hole in the film. We will discuss whether we will reshoot or use a different scene to test looking around.
We will meet up with each other next Friday at Occulus Story Studio, in San Francisco. See you then!
