“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”

Hello everybody, we are team Imagica. This is an interdisciplinary team at the ETC consisting of artists, designers and programmers who are passionate to build fun, creative interactive experiences for kids. Our Client for this project is the Mountainview Elementary School, Morgantown, WV. This project is about making an interactive “Around the world Biomes” experience for the elementary school kids to generate curiosity in them to learn more about the various Biomes like desert, oceans, tundra, etc. We are happy to have Mike Christel and Jessica Trybus as our advisors on this project.
This first week began quite well, with the team excited about working on an ETC project for the first time. Interestingly, the team rearranged the desks in an “open screen setting” with every member easily accessible to each other. We had a quick chat with our advisors Mike and Jessica who gave us a brief insight about the client and the project. Later we had our first team meeting where we discussed the roles and responsibilities of every member on a higher level and made schedules which is to be followed this semester. We also decided our team name i.e. Imagica.
With a brief idea about the project we prepared a list of questions that we intended to ask our client to get a clear picture. Along with our advisor Prof. Mike Christel the team had their first client visit in Morgantown, WV on Friday. We met our Client representative Ms. Jennifer Smith, the head technologist of Mountainview Elementary school and Mr. Jeffrey Carver, who was representing the West Virginia University. We had a healthy discussion about the goals and deliverables for the project. We also gathered lots of information about the school and its available technology which will definitely help the team at this early pre production stage.
The team is very excited and has already begun brainstorming for the ideas. Soon the team will brainstorm and come up with multiple ideas which will be pitched to the client and follow up on which ideas seemed more appropriate. The team will also be working hard next week on the branding materials(Logos, posters, etc.). Looking forward to a productive semester team Imagica is all set to make wonderful biomes that would match the client’s vision and most importantly a fun & learning experience for the lovely kids of Mountainview Elementary School.
