Week 2 : January 24, 2014

“If at first the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it”
-Albert Einstein

OVERVIEW
This week was all about defining the boundaries of our project. After our onsite client meeting last week, we brainstormed & researched various ideas and decided that we will be starting off with developing for aquatic biomes.

PROGRESS
Our programmers Ojas and Adarsh dove into researching capabilities of Smart Boards and document viewer cameras. They also tested the Microsoft Xbox Kinect, as we are thinking of using it as additional piece of technology to enhance the existing smartboards and document cameras. The team had a quick meeting with Mike to discuss the scope based on the available technologies and also the target demographics. IdeationThe team also got a chance to meet Jesse who introduced us to some projects related to aquatic biome experience.

Our designer Jimin and Siddhant researched about existing methods of how game based learnings are incorporated in schools for kids. They also delved into understanding of the cognitive science for kids’ learning, and also came up with possible ideas which were discussed internally with the team.

FINAL_posterIn parallel to the brainstorming and researching, our artists Bo and Roma worked on team branding materials. To enhance the work environment we ordered quite a few items related to aquatic life for theming the room.

As per the schedule the team met with the advisors on Friday to discuss the week’s update and prospect for next week. Followed by the advisor meeting we met with our client Ms. Jennifer Smith with whom we shared our ideas and she was happy with the progress.

PROSPECT
The team will continue researching how technology can be creatively used for kids’ learning in classroom setting. Next week will be “rapid-prototyping” week where we will test few ideas. As discussed with client, we also plan to meet with few teachers of the Mountain View school to get their opinions and understand better what will be beneficial for both teachers and kids. Hopefully, before monday next week, we plan to have few prototype ideas ready to pitch to our client.
