OVERVIEW
This was a very productive week. The team collectively narrowed down the brainstorming ideas into two broad concepts. The idea was to start the rapid prototyping of technologies and be ready for developing on any technologies after quarters.
PROGRESS
At the beginning of this week, the team split in groups of two and those groups individually brainstormed to come up with two detailed ideas each. The groups then presented the ideas to the entire team which resulted into many unique and brilliant ideas. In totality we had 6 ideas but every idea had some overlap with some other idea. This was a positive signal which effectively helped us to narrow down to two main ideas, viz;
1)an interactive one on one experience with the technology and,
2)a location based setup with multiple users collaborating in an experience.
The initial brainstorming also had many small ideas out of which some could very succinctly be used for either of the two above mentioned ideas. Hence our next move was to design mini interactions that would fit those ideas and we could then start our rapid prototyping.
Our designers then came up with a very simply and intuitive game design incorporating several activities each designed for a specific technology to be tested. We had promised our client that by the end of the week we will show them visible progress. With the help of our programmers we were able to show our client two technology prototypes, one on android tablet which is used as oculus and other a sound input control. To make it easier for the client and the team to stay on track, an early design document was created and shared with everyone. We also made a survey form for the school teachers.
As we come closer to quarters, our artists worked on completing the first draft of project branding material ready for faculty feedback.
PROSPECTS
Next week we will continue the rapid prototyping of our remaining technologies. Our concept art prototyping will begin next week. We also hope to get our survey results sometime during next week, which will help us in our final designing.
