“Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning”
-Winston Churchill
OVERVIEW
This week the team geared towards preparing for Softs opening which is on Monday, April 21, 2014. This included a lot of new additions including the Menu system, video tutorial, quest toggle options, new UI and new fish and environment assets. We also conducted two playtesting session to test our new tutorial system and interactions.
PROGRESS
This week the team had a lot of tasks to complete as next week on Monday we have our presentation. It was recognized that tutorial was very important so we made the video tutorial which was extensively tested during the Wednesdays playtest sessions. We received good feedback about it, everyone who saw the tutorial could use the app without external guidance. Another top priority was to include a menu system where users can view achievements on completing quests, check out the pictures in the gallery, tutorial and explore the ocean.
All new UI for the remaining fish quest & facts was made. We also decided to include a quest reminder when user takes long time to complete any particular quests. The user can also switch to non quest mode anytime by using the toggle key in menu.
The artists worked on creating new fish. We have now added starfish, sea turtle and boga fish. All the fish AI has been improved to make the code efficient for any further addition and also to improve the entire frame rate. We now have total 15 quests designed and have included 11 quests into the latest version equal to the number of fish we have. The artists also made colorful corals to beautify the world which still needs more polishing over the coming week.
Finally we also made the 3 minute promotional video of our project.
PROSPECT
On Monday the team will be presenting the latest version to the faculty during the Softs opening. The website resource page will be updated before Tuesday night and we plan to conduct a final playtest at the Mountainview Elementary School, Morgantown, WV sometime next week.
