Week Four

Team photo for team Joule

Hello! We are now on fourth update to the project! As you can see from above, we also took our team photo this week. We started the week focusing on branding to create the half-sheet, poster and logo for team Joule. Changes were made to the branding based on feedback from the faculty staff and students at the ETC.

Apart from branding, the week was focused on finding our direction in the project and obtaining clarity in the project. We discussed about the platforms for the installation and considered several options. Based on the constraints of technology and manpower, we decided to work with multiple touchscreens as inputs and display an overview of the house on a central display. The installation will be a kiosk that allow up to 3 students to play the game at any time. Each student will use a touchscreen which displays an interface for each level of the house. The central display will be use to show the house along with details that will indicate the current success state in the game.

The art style of the game is also another problem we were trying to resolve this week. We are currently deciding between a 2D flat style or a 3D representation. We hope to get more feedback about the art style from the faculty and from Elizabeth Forward before we proceed with an art direction of the game.

Moving forward, we have planned our schedule for the project and we hope to finish production by the end of week 9 and polish the game while setting up the installation for the next 5 weeks. In light of the coming quarters presentation, we prepared a presentation and a simple digital demo of the game. The demo will be used to show the core mechanic of the game. We have begun working on a digital prototype of the game to prepare for a play test as soon as possible!
