Week 6
This week was a bit of a crunch as we tried to complete 3 different prototypes by the end of the week. Since we had 3 strong ideas, and no clear winner, we figured it would be beneficial to try out all 3 and see which one felt the strongest.
Our first prototype was a 2D gesture drawing game. Essentially the player had to protect a bird from pollution by drawing symbols on a magic tree which would then absorb pollution.
The second prototype we worked on was an isometric chain reaction type game, based on something like Boomshine. The idea is that the player is spreading “natural energy” throughout a city, starting from a tree and spreading outward through people walking the streets.
Finally, we also worked on a 3D endless-runner type game. The idea was to combine the basic mechanics of an endless runner, with the “greening” mechanic of a game like Flower. The player controlled the wind, and used it to blow a magical leaf around that cleared pollution and colorized black and white houses.
Our goal for next week is to get feedback on these ideas, and pick one to start moving forward with.
