Due to the setup time for the blog/website, this is being posted in week two as a look back at our first week.
During our first week back at school, teams have a few things that need to be handled right away. Day one and two are mainly setting up the room, getting computers online, and getting to know teammates. Our team has three second-year students and three first-year students. Two of the three second years were on co-ops during the fall semester, while all the first year students were doing our “immersion semester.” So some of our time was just spent getting to know each other as we began talking through our project.
The next few days were getting materials set: installing Lumberyard, setting up milestones, laying out some schedules, and beginning work on some school-required materials such as the team’s branding materials. Initial exploration into Lumberyard began as well. We wanted to see just what Lumberyard looked like early so we could gauge how easy or difficult it will be for the programmers to get up to speed. On Friday, our team had our first call with our client, a representative from Amazon. After talking to our client, we were able to nail down a few future dates, milestones, and events.
