Week9 development log

For this week, we majorly worked on completing the core game loop and playtest.

  1. We changed the location of the ball so the players can see the maker more often in order to address the drafting issue. Also we finished the health and score system.
  2. We did another playtest on Friday and we had some design reflections:
  1. 90% aiming than 50/50 aiming and dodging -> need to make aiming easier. -> improve dodging (something both players need to avoid?)

  1. The visual of showing “you” are reflecting

  1. Having multiple light sources

  2. Change the way of how the “phone” is reflecting – always come from the center.

  1. The visual feedback when the light is on “your phone”

  2. Sound feedback needed

  3. On boarding design needed

Week 9 Playtest with particle system, UI, and assets.

Our artists created a new light source model, a disco Ball Light as we test various types of light sources the player can reflect. We also started our first iteration of the particle effects for the light beam. The artists tried to match the theme of a disco but also create a compelling effect that players can easily distinguish that they are hitting the other player.
