Week 4 Newsletter

Week 4 (2/3 ~ 2/7)

Week 4 was EXCITING

This week, we needed to finish a lot of branding material. During the weekend we visited a professional slot car set at a place called Legion. It was great! We were all able to get a better understanding of what a slot car truly feels like, especially our programmers who are tinkering with the controls. The poster, logo, half sheet, and the website that was blocked for a while were all completed at the end of the week by our amazing artist Eric Kron.

The exciting news: On Friday, our game designer, John Shield did a phenomenal pitch to EA, and we were able to conclude the meeting with a clear sense of direction for this semester. Although it took longer than our original plan, we are still not behind the phase schedule so we were able to conclude this week with a victory!

CHALLENGES:

Thanks to the newly created scrum board, we were all focused on our own tasks; as a result we did not hit any critical issues. For our Introduction/half sheet intro, we had to receive a green light from EA about what we are allowed to say to the public, although it took longer than we expected, we were able to complete it by the end of the week .The only thing we all had in our mind was the 2nd pitch to EA after the week before.

NEXT WEEK:

There are couples of things going on next week that we need to keep our eyes on. Monday, we will have our first retrospective and hopefully we can get a fruitful result from that and have a great first step towards our next sprint. After that we will have to create our new backlog that will not only cover what we need to do for the next week but the entire semester as well.

On Wednesday, we will have our quarter walk where faculty walk in pairs and visit project rooms to see the progress. Since it’s a 15minute visit cycle, we would like to make a quick introduction and recap of what we have been doing this past 4 weeks, and receive useful feedbacks. Because of the quarter walk our meeting with EA and advisor will change.
