Week 7 (2/24 ~ 2/28)

Week 7 was eye opening

This week we were able to take a step back and check our footing and direction. We decided to switch back to a shorter sprint of one week with specific goals. By the end of the sprint we are planning on creating a basic game with the track and a modeled car that’s not a placeholder.

On Tuesday one of the member of the client, Tom Corbett flew to Pittsburgh and we were able to update him. One of the surprising feedbacks w received was the change from 4 lanes to 2. Receiving insightful feedback that day, we got back together and checked if we were heading the correct way.

Although the scope is incredibly smaller than when we started, with the advisors support, I feel confident that we made the correct choice.

On Thursday, Rob Daviau, a professional game designer and developer visited our project and opened our eyes to look at our game in a different perspective, as a non-racer. We were fighting to come up with a racing game that was fun for people who liked to race, but we know saw a different mode; to entice the non-racing players.

CHALLENGES:

Due to the fact that we scoped down from multiple tracks to 1 track, we needed to shift focus on one of our programmer’s tasks. After talking and studying the needs of the team, we were able to create tasks that were satisfying for the individual and answers to the team’s needs.

The dreaded spring break and GDC week is approaching. Although we need to crunch things out, I would like the team to stay calm and become realistic and efficient.

NEXT WEEK:

Next week will be the last week before spring break and GDC week and into halves. We would like to stay strong and prepare a specific list of what could be done, should be done and needs to be done during the break.
