Background
This project is done in collaboration with the Give Kids the World
organization, a non-profit organization based out of Kissimmee, Florida, that
creates magical memories for children with life threatening illnesses and
their families. Working with wish-granting organizations which transport the
families to Florida, Give Kids the World then provides accommodations at its
magical resort, meals, and attraction tickets to parks such as Disney World,
Universal Studios, and Sea World.
This will be the second project in collaboration with this wonderful organization,
the first of which was the creation of a 6 minute animated film with special
effects to revitalize Julie’s Safari Theater, one of the buildings on location. In
addition, Animateering, a virtual puppet exhibit where kids play with digital
models of puppets was created to begin revitalization of the castle, the central
focus of the resort.
The castle’s revitalization will continue with this semester’s focus on
developing the character of the “Star Fairy” as well as enhancing the ritual
of providing the fairy with a unique star from each child, which is then hung
on the ceiling of the castle and other locations. In addition “Fairy
windows”, that give the children the opportunity to interact with the fairy
will be added as well as other items, including a virtual picture show
designed to look like a planetarium experience, and even a storybook giving
some back story on the Star Fairy.
