Week 5(2/10-2/14)
Previous Week
Last week the team pitched four developed project approaches to the client and came up with a direction with which both the team and client were confident. In the second half of the week the team implemented functionality for character creation and the user’s bookshelf and prototyped design flows for the interactions.
Week Overview
This week the team continued to develop the bookshelf and friend features and designed prototypes for the book function as well as designing interaction flows for the application. The team also prepared project materials for faculty feedback at 1/4s.
Progress
This week the team’s programmers continued developing the bookshelf feature and moved on to implementing the backend for friends. The team’s game designers developed a digital paper prototype for the bookshelf feature, which is the feature that we are currently focusing on, as well as interaction flows for faculty feedback at 1/4s. The artists continued to create objects for the initial environment and work on the first character. We received a lot of constructive feedback at 1/4s and in the second half of the week the team not only completed a conceptual design of the bookshelf feature, but also revaluated the game’s design as a whole in consideration of the faculty’s suggestions. One of the main suggestions was to find the fun which would be necessary for a younger audience. The team conceptualized many features, and then settled on two main additions as well as several small considerations for the existing feature set that would make for a more compelling experience for the users.
Prospect:
The team currently has one core feature functionally complete, and a second main feature close to finished. The team hopes to integrate this functionality with completed art assets and add infrastructure for a user friends system by the middle of next week and organize the first user test to get feedback from the target demographic.
