Our project.

The Location-Based Entertainment Studio is spending this semester developing engaging physical installations. True to our studio name, we are working with multiple clients, and, in doing so, are modeling ourselves as closely after the industry as possible. Thus far, our client list includes the Carnegie Science Center, America's Music Crossroads, the Columbus Zoo, MGM, and Give Kids the World. Our work will include concept design and the planning of physical space. We will be assisting our clients with generating and honing ideas to fit their needs and specifications to create an exciting experience with the ETC's trademark level of interactivity and technology.

Our team.

Anne Kelly

With aspirations to become an art director in the themed entertainment industry, Anne is serving this semester as the internal administrator of the LBE Studio. Anne is responsible for juggling the team's myriad projects to ensure that each receives the attention and creativity it requires.

Anne's background is a bachelors of Theatre Arts from Virginia Tech. Last semester, she worked as an environmental designer for the Give Kids the World Gold Star Project. Most recently, Anne contributed as the design intern for the summer at Thinkwell Design & Production in Burbank, Ca.

Beth Semler

Beth was born in Pittsburgh, but relocated to rural Lancaster, Pennsylvania as a young child. As a kid, her favorite hobby was building elaborate blanket forts, which led her to pursue architecture at Carnegie Mellon University. She shifted her studies from architecture to drama when she found herself devoting more time to design based on story and character rather than building codes. She focused on scene design and technical direction, with a minor in film and digital imaging.

As part of that minor, she took some courses at the ETC. She was instantly hooked, and so she stayed in Pittsburgh to pursue her Masters. When she finally leaves academia to join the 'real world,' she plans to create interactive theatrical experiences for location based entertainment.

Yi-Hsuan Chou

With a technical background, drama experience, and an interest of art, Yi-Hsuan chose the ETC to do her masters program.

After doing her summer internship as a production intern, she is looking forward to spending this semester working on multiple projects and doing more creative brainstorming. In the LBE Studio, she is responsible for scheduling events and contacting the clients of the Model Railroad project and Give Kids
the World.

Lenny Larsen
In addition to completing his master's degree as a student at the Entertainment Technology Center, Lenny Larsen is an experienced themed entertainment consultant.  His portfolio includes work on projects like Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom and the world's first interactive fountain attraction for Thinkwell Design & Production.  He is well versed in all aspects of the attractions industry including early concept design, project planning, construction, documentation, and operations/training.  Originally trained as a theatrical designer/director, Lenny has guided the creative vision behind more than 40 productions ranging from large galas and professional productions to educational theatre.  Lenny recently co-founded a themed entertainment consulting firm Next Generation Creative and he looks forward to an exciting semester with the ETC's Location-Based Entertainment Studio working on a wide variety of fascinating projects.
