On July 31, 2026, students and their families — along with program faculty and teaching assistants — gathered at Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center (ETC) to celebrate the conclusion of this year’s National High School Game Academy (NHSGA), the ETC’s pre-college game design program.
The reception followed final presentations that morning in McConomy Auditorium, where student teams showcased the original games created during the six-week program before heading to the ETC so that students’ friends and family could try out their games and connect with NHSGA faculty and staff.
Community is central to the NHSGA experience. As NHSGA Director Chris Klug reflected in a 2025 story about the program, “I don’t think of it as a game camp. I think of it as a way to bring like-minded people together.”
Klug also emphasized what students learn through collaboration: “It’s about learning to be generous with your teammates, and working with other people to make something bigger than yourself.”
The photos below capture that spirit — and some of the people and conversations that brought the 2026 NHSGA to a close.
