Steve leads the Technology Team at the ETC and oversees the development and deployment of entertainment technology within the department, with an eye on emerging technologies that can push forward the field of interactive storytelling via immersive environments, XR, Mixed Reality, and instrumented digital spaces.
He holds a BS in Architecture from the University of Virginia, where he met Randy Pausch and worked for his VR UI research group, which eventually moved to CMU and renamed to Stage 3 Research. He then worked at the DisneyQuest in Burbank on more VR attractions, CAVE attractions, early passthrough AR games, and multisensory attractions before finally coming back to CMU to join the ETC in 2001. He received a CMU Andy Award in 2013 for Outstanding Innovation.
Steve and his team have spent the past two decades helping ETC students realize their dreams by creating and supporting the technology platforms upon which those dreams have been built.
