Blue Farmers

We are Blue Farmers consisting of 4 people, including UI/UX designers, UX researchers, 3D artists, and programmers. Our client is Blue Stream Farms, a West Virginia-based non-profit entity with a mission to nurture and inspire the development of the mind, body, and environment for communities of sustainability-conscious youth. Our goal is to build an exciting online entry point using an augmented reality (AR) experience that enables more children to join offsite visits to the aquaponic factory. Aquaponics is a system of aquaculture in which the waste produced by farmed fish or other aquatic animals supplies nutrients for plants grown hydroponically, which in turn purifies the water. Our main target users are high school students, but we will also take the needs of stakeholders like parents and teachers into consideration. We will be developing a mobile APP that addresses two main challenges: How to efficiently build a high school student-centered AR experience? How to take full advantage of AR technology to make the complex aquaponic system interesting?
