Project Website

Team NEO aims to design an online crowdsourcing game that invites people all over the world to team up and map the complex neural network together. We are working with our clients at Seung Lab, Princeton University to create a gaming world where players discover, investigate, collaborate and challenge each other to expand their territory across a land of neurons.

The goal is to incorporate the large dataset from Seung Lab and create an engaging, purposeful game that trains neuron masters and brings more people into this meaningful activity. Evolved from the lab’s previous build Eyewire, the NEO game will use a more advanced technology that can detect more detailed neuron models from micro captures of visual cortex on a mouse’s brain. Players need to develop searching skills to complete parts of the neurons that a computer could not do on its own.
