Spring 2024

Project Website

This year's Game Pre-Production project team, Studio Platypus, is working on a playable prototype demo for a free-to-play mobile game in its pre-production stage. The project team comprises six members, including programmers, designers, and artists from Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center, collaborating with a senior subject expert (Creative Director) in one of the US's leading mobile game companies. In this game, the player is a museum curator by day and a dungeon explorer by night. The two identities both have their own gameplay and in-game perspective. As a dungeon explorer, in the first-person view, the player plays as a rouge who explores dungeons combats enemies, and collects treasures/legendary weapons. As a museum curator, in a side-scroller view, the player manages a museum to attract visitors and wealth, using the treasures they obtain from the explorations. The team aims to shape a successful game loop by combining addicting combat and casual business management systems.
