SoulOS is an immersive mixed-reality experience built around the Unitree G1 robot and an asymmetric AR system spanning two separate spaces. Designed as a cooperative scenario set within the wreckage of a crashed spacecraft, the experience asks player to collaborate with a robot to restore damaged systems and escape.
One player inhabits the robot’s perspective through AR, operating its movements and perceiving the world through its embodied viewpoint. The other remains in physical space, engaging directly with the robot through AR-based repair mechanics and spatial collaboration.
Throughout the experience, SoulOS designed partial autonomy into the robot’s behavior. The robot may hesitate or reinterpret commands, introducing ambiguity into the collaboration. The central question guiding this project is: how trust, empathy, and identity shift when the robot is not purely obedient, but an entity with partial autonomy and hidden intent.
